Event Description

The third Multiplier Event for Belgium took place on the 29th of March 2017, when the final version of the Carwash seri ous game was launched and all aspects and questions were translated into Dutch.

It was combined with a visit to and a company presentation of the ACG Volvo dealer

The people present were a mixture of car dealers; companies active in waste treatment and recyclables; active in soil tr eatment and waste water systems design; insurance brokers; active in soil- & water investigation-environmental permit; truck transport companies, health & safety consultants…

The seminar was published several times in the Voka Newsletter, with a link to the webpage where people could regist er.

Viola Vandelanotte from Voka and Tom Debruycker welcomed the participants and presented the Volvo Car shop and t he CARWASH serious game. Different tables were set up for networking, of which one displayed the game and could b e used for testing.

EVALUATION AND LESSIONS LEARNED

There was a lot of interest for the event, 43 participants turned up.

The feedback about the game and the demo has been used for the impact study, of which the most pertinent are listed here :

  • The game could be interesting to propose to my workers, but the APP version looks too small to play it for a lo nger time. You can’t see all the buildings so you can’t see customers coming in. It would be good if more zoo ming out is possible.
  • Before I would consider using the game in my lessons, it is necessary to see the right answer after every ques tion, and this is not the case now.
  • The game is for us a complete new way of thinking about our services and the colleagues who are in daily con tact with the sector. We tried to see all the questions but is seems impossible to finish the game because the p rices of waste treatment and building keep raising.

An average score of 8.3 was given by the participants.

CONCLUSIONS

The second Multiplier Event has been successful, the target (n° of participants) was reached and interest for the subjec t and the project/ game was raised.

Description:

The first Multiplier Event for Belgium took place three weeks after the kick off meeting in Badajoz, on the 23rd of June, because of the perfect opportunity : the Dendermondse Truck en Trailer Services company (DTTS) was gathering professionals from the automotive, waste- and transport sector.

Besides owners of car & truck retail and repair shops, companies dealing with (hazardous) waste, transport, local authority, town officials, also other companies registered for this event, because it was for them the chance to visit the DTTS company and to network with businesses from other sectors.

Invitations were sent by e-mail to a selected group, who could register via the website.

Annemie De Proft welcomed the participants and presented the project and its expected results. The need for a game as training tool was emphasized and the purpose of the questionnaire was explained. All participants were given a paper copy of the questionnaire, translated into Dutch, as the survey monkey was not yet online.

Evaluation:

There was a lot of interest for the event, especially as it was combined with the possibility to visit the premises of the Truck & Trailer Services Company.

From the 80 participants, 11 came from sectors related to the Carwash target groups : truck dealers, transport, tyre- and wheel specialists, driving schools, car dealers, local authorities and recycling companies. They were asked in particular to fill in the questionnaire. Other participants were free to spread their copies in their network, using their contacts (leasing companies, their own car dealer) to obtain as many as surveys possible. The overall result was 62 completed questionnaires.

The formula will be repeated for the second Multiplier Event and possibly also for the National Closing Event, because if you involve the sector directly in hosting the Events (Car dealers, Truck Dealers), you can have more participants than if you organise this in a neutral environment (your own offices). It is also good to get a mix of sectors and branches, because the topic of waste management is a concern for all kind of businesses. It can push them to pay more attention to the subject or to want to learn more about it.

Conclusions:

The first Multiplier Event has been successful, the target (n° of surveys) was reached and interest for the subject and the project was raised.
